Healthy eating

In the past few months I have completely changed the way I cook and eat, as it is now even more important to start having nutritious, well-balanced meals.

You shouldn't be eating for two in this period; you should only consume about 300 more calories per day than you did before you became pregnant.

Daily meals should include a variety of foods from the four main food groups- Fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, Foods rich in protein and Dairy foods.

I try to start my day with a healthy breakfast which includes healthy cereal, breakfast biscuits, fruits, milk and nuts.

For healthy snacking I prefer eating fruits, nuts and salads in-between my main meals. If I am at home I try to cook something for myself as a tasty alternative.

For lunch and dinner I prefer consuming carbs like whole wheat bread, rice, pasta, chapati’s along with vegetables.

I try and include chicken, eggs and fish in my meals every week.

My list of top ten best pregnancy foods includes Eggs, Salmon, all kinds of pulses, Spinach, broccoli and whole grain foods, Walnuts, Greek yogurt, Asparagus, Chicken, Colorful fruits and veggies

Foods that I am strictly avoiding in pregnancy are liver and liver products, processes food, fizzy drinks, foods containing MSG (monosodium glutamate), all kinds of junk food, deep fried oily food, foods that are high in sugar & fat, soft cheese, sushi, fish that are high in mercury etc.

We are pregnant

Me and jai we are together from last 14 years (including our college times) and married since last 5 years. We both were really very happy within our small world where we had everything, a beautiful house, car, really nice jobs, strong career paths, pets, vacations, chilled out weekends and our mutual love for freedom.

Its not like the thought of having our own child never came up in first 4 years of marriage, but we always agreed that we are still not ready for this BIG responsibility. Also our family members never pressurized us to dive into parenthood, that was may be because of Jais job profile as he was a field engineer so he worked on rotations one month he is on holiday and one month he’s working offshore away from home.

All my experienced friends in this field always advised me to target my first pregnancy before I turn 30, which makes so much sense now. I was 28, my biological clock was ticking, together we decided to plan a complete medical checkup and seek professional advice. After which we realized there is no point in stretching this too long either do it now or never.

Exactly at the same time a much awaited job offer for me came into picture. We decided to move to Aberdeen from Mumbai. Jai also got a very attractive job offer at the same place and the best part was he got into an office job and out of offshore job profile. We both were really happy and were very excited for this new journey together.  So our family planning obviously got postponed but we promised ourselves that as soon as we get settled there, we will take things seriously.

Six months from there..here I am expecting a baby in nine months from now :D
Two Pink Lines!! We are "Pregnant".....Yeiiiiiiiiii!!!
